Dr. Anna McCrea has a strong background in civil engineering, ICT, knowledge management, Life Cycle Costing, selected aspects of sustainability and research. She has over 25 years’ experience in delivery of quality consultancy to the UK, EU and Caribbean construction industry. Variety of assignments as an educator/academic and a consultant working for international consultancies, lending and development institutions as well as finance organisations enabled her to develop expertise in a wide spectrum of issues regarding the construction industry. She has a PhD from the Civil Engineering Department of the City University in London and for ten years was a visiting lecturer in IT and Structures at the Bartlett School of Architecture.  In addition, she has gained hands-on experience in online product and services development while developing content for Construction Plus - an online construction information portal for EMAP. She was also developing services and QA procedures while on the team of a startup company developing information services for contractors via mobile phones.

Academic career: South Bank University and City University over a period of 8 years enabled her to develop teaching and lecturing skills, employ a variety of delivery methods, develop new courses and improve the content to suit students' needs.

Dr. Anna McCrea has been supporting IT Best Practice in Construction and Constructing Excellence – programmes financed at the time by the DTI - as well as monitoring and coordinating a range of research projects initially within the Partners in Innovation Programme (PII) and currently within the Technology Programme for the Technology Strategy Board. Whilst being a consultant at Davis Langdon she had management responsibility for a number of IT and knowledge management projects.  In 2006 she also developed a methodology for the Life Cycle Costing for construction projects for the EU Commission.

Since 2008 Anna has been operating internationally (from Luxemburg) with clients in the EU countries and well as in the Caribbean region, advising local economies on infrastructure needs and preparing Technical Assistance (TA) programmes and construction projects.

Anna’s work has covered a wide range of construction consulting.  Her specific areas of expertise are:

·  Products and content development for the internet

·  Use and exploitation of IT in construction

·  Knowledge Management

·  Research

Extramural industry activities:

2002 – 2007: Member of the ICT panel at the ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers)
1999 – 2004: Board of Directors of IAARC (International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction)
1998 – 2008: Visiting lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL
2000 – present: Contract-based Technical Expert for Assessment of Projects submitted for EU funding for the European Commission
